Students complete their drawing and add colour to their work using coloured pencils. Draw the object slowly without looking at the page in a single line with pen on cartridge. Obviously, since you are not looking at your paper, it doesn’t always translate. The purpose of this type of drawing is to have your brain focus solely on the object to really look at it and see it for all it’s details. Students will draw inspiration from flowers, leaves. A blind contour drawing is where you only look at the object you are drawing, and not at the paper you are drawing on. The artist may occasionally look at their artwork but the focus is still on looking at subject. The line just keeps moving, crossing over itself, and back around without picking your pencil or marker up. Students use a fine liner to explore the contours of their chosen object. Blind Contour: Blind contour is similar to a regular contour drawing except the artist keeps their eyes on the subject they are drawing and does not look down. In this lesson students explore line, shape, colour and movement to create a blind contour drawing. A continuous contour line drawing focuses on keeping your marker on the paper and slowly moving from one contour onto the next. Students choose an object from nature such as a flower or choose a photo to work from.
